Modernizing Healthcare through Medical Mobility
Healthcare is one of the primary markets that Socket aims to serve with our diverse business mobility solutions. Our goal is to help the healthcare industry achieve higher standards of patient safety and care, and we facilitate this by developing technology that modernizes care delivery processes and improves the quality and affordability of the services being provided. We call this process of modernization "Medical Mobility," and much of it is centered on moving from paper-based to digital and automated processes.

Socket provides a range of PDA, data collection and connectivity solutions to enable healthcare professionals to reduce costly and dangerous medical errors, improve the quality of services being offered and empower technological ease-of-use. From administering bedside point of care (BPOC), e-prescribing and asset tracking to implementing electronic medical records (EMRs), the intention of Socket and our healthcare VIPs is to mobilize healthcare professionals to help them achieve their goals.
Antimicrobial Protection
To further our efforts in the healthcare arena, Socket has developed a line of products encased in plastics made with antimicrobial materials, which provide an extra layer of protection to the devices against the multiplication and spread of potentially harmful bacteria and microbes. The Socket SoMo® 650Rx handheld computer and the Socket Bluetooth® Cordless Hand Scanners 7 Rx 1D and 2D barcode scanners will be demonstrated at the HIMSS show in booth #3674.

Studies done by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have shown that healthcare-associated MRSA / Staph. infections are rising in medical facilities due to unfortunate cross-contamination of bacteria from the healthcare providers themselves. The lab test results for our antimicrobial coating show greater than a 99 percent reduction in Staph. bacteria on the surface of the device over a 24 hour period, and when cleaned with a Sani-Cloth® wipe, the antimicrobial properties are enhanced more than two-fold. Socket remains committed to providing solutions that advance the healthcare industry from both a technology and user safety standpoint.
