Windows Mobile 6 Service Pack 4

In the next few weeks, Socket will release a new service pack for the SoMo® 650 handheld computer. New features include:

• Socket File Store: Persistent storage for device applications/configurations even with cold boot of device. Ideal for provisioning deployments (includes Autorun support) or backing up data

• Improved sound and touch drivers

• Enhanced Wi-Fi® Companion™ software: WLAN software is Cisco CCX 4.0 certified, supports advanced Wi-Fi security including WPA2, EAP-TTLS, LEAP, EAP-FAST, and more

• SoMo 650 Back Pack software

• Getting Started applets for Enhanced Wi-Fi Companion, barcode scanners, SoMo 650 Back Pack, etc.

• Miscellaneous fixes for Bluetooth, third-party serial-based CF cards, etc.

Socket Bluetooth® Cordless Hand Scanner (CHS) 7EL

In June, the company released a new entry-level version of the Socket Bluetooth Cordless Hand Scanner Series 7 based on the Motorola (Symbol) SE-955EL Class 1 laser scanning engine. For most end-users, the 7EL offers virtually the same performance as the 7E (which has been discontinued) but at a lower price.

After releasing SocketScan for the Nokia E71 smartphone, we have confirmed that the software also works with the Nokia E61/E61i for use with Socket Bluetooth barcode scanners.

Go Wi-Fi!® P320 802.11a/b/g SDIO WLAN card

In June, the company released the Go Wi-Fi! P320 SDIO WLAN card, which is Wi-Fi certified for 802.11a/b/g. There is also a P320X version with an external antenna
