In September, Socket began offering new entry-level Class 1 laser barcode scanners featuring the Symbol SE-955-EL scanning engine. The engine is being incorporated into both plug-in and Bluetooth wireless barcode scanners. More information is available online under Bluetooth barcode scanners or Plug-in data capture.
The Secure Digital Scan Card 3E2 replaces the 3E and 3M, which were discontinued this month. The Bluetooth Cordless Hand Scanner 7E2 replaces the 7E, which was discontinued in August.

SoMo® 650 Windows Mobile 6 Service Pack 4
In August, Socket released Windows Mobile 6 SP4 for the SoMo 650 handheld computer. Features include:
Socket File Store: Persistent storage for device applications/configurations survives cold boot of device

SocketScan Support for BlackBerry Storm, Intermec CK3
Soon, you'll be able to use Socket Bluetooth barcode scanners with the BlackBerry Storm smartphone or a number of Intermec handheld devices, including the CK3.

SocketScan SDK 7.4.7 (Windows CE)
The SocketScan Software Developer's Kit for Windows CE has been updated to match the version of SocketScan currently shipping. Minor issues with sample apps have also been fixed. The updated SDK is available free to registered SDK users or available for purchase at SocketStore.

In July, Socket released an update to Connect!Agent software for Windows Mobile to improve performance.
