Make VoIP Calls with the SoMo and Skype
Have you been looking for a way to turn your SoMo into a Voice over IP communications tool? Some of our customers are using the SoMo headset / microphone jack splitter to do just that.

By attaching the jack splitter to the SoMo 650 you're able to convert the single SoMo 2.5mm stereo jack into a dual 3.5mm headset / microphone connector. Download Skype onto the SoMo and you're on your way to making free Skype-to-Skype VoIP calls!

Speedy File Transfer with USB Master Jack
If you're using a memory stick to store and transport important files, then the USB Master Jack is what you need to facilitate quick file transfer to and from your SoMo 650 handheld computer.

Battery Friendly Power Plus software

SoMo 650 Power Plus Battery Friendly Utility
The Socket SoMo® 650 Power Plus Battery Friendly® utility is an advanced power management and monitoring application available to all Windows Mobile 6 (WM6) customers with Service Pack 6 (SP6) or above installed. This easy-to-use utility provides detailed information on the performance of the SoMo 650 handheld computer and gives users the ability to analyze and optimize a variety of device specifications in addition to being able to troubleshoot at-a-glance through an exportable power log.

Some key features of this utility include:

  • Battery ID
  • Battery size
  • Real-time power remaining indicator and charging status
  • Real-time charging/discharging battery current usage indicator
  • Configurable power settings for battery and AC power operation
  • Indicator for Date, Time and % charged of last battery charging
  • Battery specification charging cycles remaining
  • Exportable Power Log providing detailed information

Dual-Function On/Off Button
Did you know that the On/Off button of the SoMo does more than just power on and off the device?

When the SoMo is on, if you press the on/off button for less than 2 seconds, then SoMo will power off. However, when the SoMo is on and you press the on/off button for more than 2 seconds, it will turn off the backlight (not the display), but any active applications will stay running, and any active wireless connections will stay connected.

Why is this a useful feature? The display is one of the most power-consuming components of the SoMo. With a simple key depression, you can extend the life of the battery by turning off the backlight. This can also be done with the Hold Switch utility.

How to Find Out the Windows Mobile Version of Your SoMo
If you ever need to find out which version of Windows Mobile is running on your SoMo, here's how to do it:

In the Today screen, tap Start | Settings | System tab | About. Here you will find basic information about the Windows version, processor, memory, and expansion slot.

Alternatively, for more detailed information, in the System tab, tap System Info. A lot of technical information about your device is available here, including your hardware serial number, ROM version, available Flash storage, Bluetooth Device Address, Wi-Fi MAC address, and much more.
