Images & Editions fulfills sales orders for its greeting cards more than 500% faster now that its mobile sales force uses Socket bar code scanners and a Pocket PC. Orders are sent directly to headquarters right from a customer's retail store.
Challenge: To make it efficient for field sales representatives to record sales orders and transfer them to headquarters, and for the sales orders to be entered into the central database.
Solution: Mobile sales force automation system featuring the Socket In-Hand Scan Card, a Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC, a CompactFlash modem card and MiniSell software from Aspin Management Systems.
Result: The mobile sales force automation system enabled Images & Editions to dramatically reduce the turnaround time needed for a sales order taken at the customer site to be transferred, processed and ready to ship — from an average of 48 hours to fewer than 8 hours, and only 20 minutes for urgent requests. Additionally, the system eliminated the need for order entry clerks, allowing the company to divert staff to other areas.
