JOB DESCRIPTION

Socket Mobile Inc. (NASDAQ: SCKT), a leading provider of mobile data collection and manufacturer of Bluetooth barcode scanner and contactless reader/writer is looking to expand its IT development team with an individual who is passionate about new technologies and the mobile world. 

Mission

The support engineer has a significant role in the developer community by having a deeper relationship with developers. These relations could be used for testing a beta release, a proposal for a new feature or even getting developers' suggested features or fixes.

This role is not only the frontline with developers facing some difficulties using the SDK in their application, but it is also forging a deeper relationship with these developers to turn them into fans of our products and SDK.

Responsibilities

  • Keen sense of diagnosing a customer issue, by asking specific questions
  • Ability to reproduce the issue and environment so an engineer could take over and continue the investigation
  • Collect traces
  • Collect information about developer’s environment, challenges and architecture
  • Collect and analyze feedback to share with the team
  • Setup conference call with the developer and the SDK team
  • Provide prompt and accurate feedback to developers
  • Building relationships with developers
  • Follow up issues by communicating with the Team and developers

Experience

  • 1+ year of experience in helping developers
  • 3 years+ experience in customer support for a software product
  • Strong knowledge about mobile OS App architecture
  • Strong knowledge of programming languages
  • Has some experience of mobile app development for iOS or Android
  • Familiar with development environment: XCode, Android Studio
  • Efficient for adding and collecting traces
  • Ideally has an app in one of the App Stores
  • Ability to clone, compile source code
  • Familiar with the basics of source control such as Git
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic technical issues
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • The ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal
  • Good at maintaining a good relationship with customers

Location

England, New York Area, Bay Area.

Must be legally able to work in the noted countries - no visa sponsoring.
