Goodbye 2022, and HELLO 2023! As the New Year is upon us, we’d like to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and reflect on this past year. During 2022, Socket Mobile launched groundbreaking new products, enhanced our development environments, achieved many milestones, and accomplished long-term goals that have brought our company new success. A quick look at our 2022 year in review:

New Products Launched

  • SocketScan S550 Opens Worldwide Website: We started the year off with a bang and released the S550, our first NFC mobile wallet reader designed to facilitate tap-and-go smart card and NFC mobile applications. The S550 was also the first cordless reader to receive NFC Forum Certification.
  • SocketCam C820 Opens Worldwide Website: We then stepped into the camera-based scanning community and announced the SocketCam family of software-based barcode scanners. SocketCam C820 is the first member of the SocketCam family and turns any mobile device into a high-performance barcode scanner.
  • SocketScan S370 Opens Worldwide Website: In June we launched the S370, a universal NFC & QR Code mobile wallet reader. This was revolutionary as the device combines the latest NFC contactless technology with high-performance Bluetooth barcode scanning; truly the best of both worlds for data capture.
  • SocketScan S720 Opens Worldwide Website and Durascan D720 Opens Worldwide Website: As 2D barcode usage is growing, we released the entry-level S720 and D720 1D/2D barcode scanners to provide an easy pathway for users to upgrade to 2D barcode usage. The affordable S720 and durable D720 allow users to step into the future of data capture with 2D barcode adoption.
  • SocketScan S820 Opens Worldwide Website, Durascan D820 Opens Worldwide Website, and Durasled DS820 Opens Worldwide Website: We then expanded the entry-level 2D barcode scanning line to include our attachable models: S820, D820, and DS820. We built our new attachable scanners to provide the same easy 2D adoption path that the S720 provides for our companion scanner users.

Development and CaptureSDK Updates

  • Flutter Opens Worldwide Website: In March we expanded our development toolbox to include Flutter, an open-source framework created by Google for building natively compiled, multi-platform applications from a single codebase. Flutter is a widely popular development environment, and we were happy to welcome it to CaptureSDK and support developers who use the platform.
  • Swift Package Manager Opens Worldwide Website: CaptureSDK was updated to include Swift Package Manager, iOS's native package managing solution for developers. It allows developers to import libraries into their applications with ease and has positively impacted the development processes for Apple developers.
  • .NET MAUI Opens Worldwide Website: In November we added .NET MAUI support for CaptureSDK. MAUI is the replacement for Xamarin and developers can use it to create multi-platform apps using a single project while adding platform-specific source code and resources.
  • SM Keyboard with SocketCam for iOS Opens Worldwide Website:  This year we launched our SM Keyboard application that includes support for free camera-based scanning with SocketCam C820. This was a noteworthy release because it allows users to utilize their smart device camera for scanning data into any application without worrying about whether the application supports an additional hardware scanner or SDK.
