SumUp set to use POS barcode scanner solution from Socket Mobile
Blog by Socket Mobile, Inc.The SumUp Point of Sale Register features intuitive operation and maximum flexibility, and dealers can save on long periods of training for their employees. It was essential then for SumUp to look for barcode scanners that were as intuitive and easy to use as their popular POS solution.
The Business Owner of Point of Sale at SumUp, Jacques Hörter, and Christoph Hilbert, Managing Director at ime mobile solutions and distributor for Socket Mobile, first made their acquaintance at a trade show. After a subsequent presentation in Berlin, it was decided to integrate the Socket Mobile scanner into the cash register software of the mPOS specialist.
The Socket Mobile ecosystem was a compelling choice for two reasons. First, its excellent compatibility with Apple products thanks to an integrated Apple chip, and second, the Socket Scan 10 Software Development Kit enables this compatibility to be fully brought to life. This achievement for SumUp also means that the software application controls the scanner and not vice versa. This is the only way for the user to really take advantage of the many additional functions of the scanner in a transparent, stable and reliable way.
Of course, the scanners themselves underwent product testing, the outcome of which formed part the decision. Jacques Hörter was very enthusiastic because of the convenience and robustness of the hardware and their ease of use for the user. The SumUp Business Owner Point of Sale further praised the product saying: 'We subjected the scanner to a stress test: Using 20 checkouts side by side with scanners at the 'Berlin Vital' expo prior to the Berlin Marathon. The scanners withstood the enormous pressure without any problems. I am impressed!'
'We look forward to a long and successful collaboration' says Christoph Hilbert from ime mobile solutions. 'The Socket Mobile scanners with iOS hardware are our driving force for the mPOS market', he added with a view to the future. 'We see strong growth in this market in the coming year'.
