GS1 Barcodes Overview
GS1 manages several types of barcodes. The GS1 EAN/UPC family and GS1 1D symbols are used in general distribution and logistics. The GS1 DataBar Family and GS1 2D Barcodes encode information such as product numbers, serial numbers, and batch numbers.

1D Symbologies
GS1 DataBar (Formerly RSS)
All GS1 DataBar barcodes are a family of symbols in the GS1 DataBar coupon, which is omnidirectional, expanded, and limited. They all encode Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) in a 14-digit data structure, and this symbol is 50% smaller than that of EAN/UPC.
