1. My host device cannot find the scanner.
Possible cause: The scanner is not powered on.
Solution: Power on the scanner.
Possible cause: Your host device does not have Bluetooth enabled.
Solution: Enable Bluetooth on your device.
Possible cause: The scanner is already paired with another host device.
Solution: Unpair the scanner. Then pair the scanner and new host device.
2. My scanner disconnects frequently, nearly every 10 minutes.
Solution: Disable iPad/tablet's auto-lock feature.
Solution: Reset/restart your host device.
3. My scanner turns off automatically on its own.
Solution: Turn off your host device's Bluetooth then scan the "scanner is always on" barcode below to configure your scanner.
4. My scanner is no longer connected.
Solution: Restart host device and pair using Socket Mobile Companion App. Watch: How to Pair Using Companion App.
Solution: Ensure the scanner is connected to power.
5. I can’t download or use companion app to pair. What do I do?
Solution: Use instruction below.
6. I still can't connect my scanner.
Solution: Complete the initial battery charge. The initial battery charge takes up to 8 hours.
Solution: Contact support@socketmobile.com for additional troubleshooting help.
7. When I try to scan, no data appears on my screen.
Possible cause: You are not paired and connected to your host device.
Solution: Restart host device and pair using Socket Mobile Companion App. Watch: How to Pair Using Companion App
Possible cause: The scanner is too close or too far from the barcode or at an incorrect angle.
Solution: Practice scanning at different distances and angles. Reading distance depends on barcode size, symbology, label media, Narrow and Wide ratio, and scan angle.
Possible cause: The barcode is incorrectly formatted, damaged or poorly printed.
Solution: Try scanning a barcode that is correctly formatted, printed clearly and in good condition.
Possible cause: The barcode symbology may be disabled or not supported by the scanner.
Solution: Enable the symbology. If you do not know the symbology of the barcode contact support@socketmobile.com.
Possible cause: You don't have an application open to scan data into.
Solution: Open an application (i.e. Notes). Place the cursor where you want to enter the data and try scanning again.
8. My scanner won’t automatically scan barcodes.
Possible cause: Your scanner is not placed in Auto Scan mode.
Solution: Scan the appropriate command barcode to configure your scanner.
Possible cause: Your barcode scanner does not support Auto Scan mode.
Solution: Ensure you have a 2D barcode scanner. See model S740, S760, D740, D750 and D760.
9. The iPad's keyboard won't pop up.
Possible cause: You are paired and connected in Basic Mode (HID).
Solution: Double tap the power button to enable/disable the on-screen keyboard. Watch: How to Enable On-Screen Keyboard for Apple iOS
10. My Charging Dock/Charging Stand does not charge my scanner.
Possible cause: There is no power in the outlet.
Solution: Plug the power adapter into a different power outlet.
Possible cause: The Charging Cable is not plugged securely into the Charging Stand or Charging Dock.
Solution: Ensure the Charging Cable is plugged in securely.
Possible cause: The charging pins are not making contact with the Charging Stand/Charging Dock.
Solution: Check the scanner’s charging pins are contacting the pins on the dock/stand.
Possible cause: The screw on the battery door is loose.
Solution: Make sure to tighten the screw on the battery door.
11. My scanner is not holding a charge.
Possible cause: Your batteries need replacing.
Solution: Replace with 2 rechargeable batteries with NiMH. Use only the recommended batteries. Incorrect batteries may cause damage.
