FAQ

• How do I pair my SocketScan S370 to my host device?

  To pair in the default reader mode, the S370 requires an application that contains the Socket Mobile CaptureSDK. Launch your supported application, and the S370 will connect automatically. If you are unsure if your application is supported, please contact your application provider.

• How do I charge my SocketScan S320 or S370?

  Plug the charging cable into the charging port on the back side of the reader.

  

• Is the SocketScan S320 or S370 battery-powered, or does it need to be plugged in?

  The SocketScan S320 and S370 have built-in rechargeable batteries, which allow for greater portability. The readers can be used on battery power or while plugged in with the charging cable.

• Can I pair the SocketScan S370 to my host device in Basic Keyboard Mode (HID)?

  Yes, the S370 can be paired in Basic Keyboard Mode/Keyboard Emulation Profile (HID).

  1. Double-tap the power button on the back of the S370 to start the scan engine. With the scan engine illuminated, scan the barcode below. The S370 will power off.

  

  2. Power the S370 back on - it will announce 'Keyboard'.
  3. Go to the Bluetooth settings of your tablet, smartphone or computer and pair the S370 as you would any other Bluetooth peripheral.
  4. Once paired, the S370 will announce 'Connected', and the scan illumination will be lit.
  5. When scanning a barcode or NFC tag, the data will be delivered to wherever the flashing cursor is on the page. No cursor = no data.

   

• Can I pair my SocketScan S320 to my tablet, smartphone, or PC in Bluetooth settings?

  No, the SocketScan S320 does not pair in your device's Bluetooth settings, and requires a compatible application to connect to. Please confirm compatibility with your app provider prior to purchase.

  If you have a supported application, launch the app and then power on the S320. The reader should connect automatically.

• What barcodes does the SocketScan S320 and S370 scan?

• What NFC/RFID tags does the SocketScan S370 read?

  The S370 reads the following NFC and RFID tags:

  • ISO15693: Vicinity Card
  • ISO/IEC 14443 A and B: Mifare, Sony FeliCA
  • Compliant with EPC GEN 2 HF and ISO 18000-3 mode 3
  • ISO 18000-3 mode 3: EPC GEN 2 HF
  • NFC: ISO/IEC 18092
  • Proprietary: Several
  • Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Card Emulation

• How do I reset my SocketScan S370?

  1. Use the power button to power the device ON.
  2. Remove the battery door.
  3. Press and hold the menu button until you hear “Menu”.
  4. Press the menu button again then let go. You should see the ring light move to the second quadrant.
  5. Then press and hold the power button until you hear “Factory Reset”.

  Your S370 has now been reset to the default settings.

• How do I reset my SocketScan S320?

  No, there is no Basic Keyboard Mode support for the SocketScan S320 and it must be used with a supported application. Please check with your app provider for compatibility before purchasing.

  If you have a supported application, launch the app and then power on the S320. The reader should connect automatically.

• What warranty comes with the SocketScan S320 or S370?

  One year. There is an optional 2-year extension  (AU, EMEA, UK) taking the warranty to 3 years in total.

• How do I read QR Codes or NFC tags with the SocketScan S320 or S370?

  Once connected to your application, place the NFC tag or barcode above the reader lens. The reader will automatically read the presented data.

• My host device cannot find the SocketScan S370.

  Toggle your Bluetooth off/on. If that doesn't work, force close your application and try again.

• What do the reader's beeps and tones mean?

  Visit our sounds and indications page  (AU, EMEA, UK) to hear the various reader tones and their meanings.

• My reader is getting hot.

  If your Socket Mobile reader gets too hot while charging, unplug it right away.

  Charging can make your reader a little warm, but if it feels hot to the touch, you should immediately disconnect it from its power source, then, contact our support team via the Hardware Support form  (AU, EMEA, UK).
